Injection Molding Tips

Injection Molding Tips

(Below some of the paragraphs are extracted from www.ehow.com)

Injection molding is the process by which a thermoplastic resin is injected into a mold by machines before cooling and hardening. The end result is a series of identically made plastic products. Injection molding can be used to make industrial items like car parts or smaller products such as sink plugs, camera parts or containers.

Choosing Your Resin Early

Although you can wait until the final moments of the injection molding process to choose and use your resin, picking a resin earlier means speeding the process and saving time and money. Designing with a resin already in mind helps simplify any further design choices along the way and reduces the need for extra work at a later stage.
(Basically, when we are dealing with an new projects from customers, we will always ask customers about the plastic materials they plan/want to use, it will help a lot in mold design, mold making process, and also it will save a lot of time from waiting for each other's information and other project details. )

Avoiding Premature Freeze

Premature freezing happens when the thermoplastic resin cools and hardens before the mold has been fully filled. One possible solution is to raise the resin temperature; this would maintain the material's heat until the mold has been filled. Another tip is to increase the injection speed, which should ensure that the thermoplastic resin has been fully pumped into the mold before setting. Other tips to avoid premature freezing include raising the temperature of the mold, increasing injection pressure and using higher MFI (Melt Flow Index) grades for inadequate melt flow rates.
